Bet365 in tech-focused recruitment drive
Operator will expand size of Manchester workforce from 85 to 150 over coming months
Bet365 is in the process of significantly expanding its Manchester headcount after taking additional floor space at the year-old technology-focused hub.
The Stoke-headquartered operator opened the office in April 2016, quickly growing to 60 staffers before renting an additional floor to add a further 25 pairs of hands.
And now the operator plans to bring that number up to 150, with the firm looking to bring in expertise in roles such as senior developers, team leads, tech leads and project managers.
Speaking to local news site Prolific North, head of systems development for bet365 Manchester, Warren Hughes, said the new office had already had a big impact on the wider business.
“Manchester’s deep talent pool has enabled us to keep the bar high and attract a fine calibre of developer,” Hughes said. “We’ve been impressed by how quickly the new office has become productive.
“The team has established a solid working relationship with our developers in Stoke and their close collaboration has successfully delivered significant pieces of work including our new HTML5 desktop website,” he added.
Furthermore, Hughes said the enlarged team would be able to widen its scope with developers likely to train in new technologies, including programming languages such as Erlang, Elixir and Go.
“We currently have five teams providing software development and testing across sports, gaming, trading and customer account management,” Hughes said.
“This year, we will be looking to extend these and also look at mobile and middleware expansions if there’s a good case to doing so.”
