Bet365 goes live in Ghana as World Cup gets underway
Stoke-on-Trent-based operator officially launches its sports betting offering in the Land of Gold
On Friday 18 November, bet365 launched its sports betting offering in Ghana to extend its reach in the African market. Players in Ghana can now sign up to play, with access to sporting events worldwide, via bet365’s website or its app for Android and iOS. The launch comes in time for the Black Stars opening World Cup 2022 fixture against Portugal in the so-called ‘group of death’ of the tournament . Ghana is the latest in a number of jurisdictions the operator is available in within Africa, including the Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Kenya, Morocco and Nigeria. The operator is only restricted within South Africa. A bet365 spokesperson said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of a dedicated bet365 website for customers in Ghana. In a country with such a passion for sports, particularly football, we are excited to provide an unrivalled sports betting experience, with a key focus on both localised and international markets. “It was our preferred location for our first launch into Africa, as one of the most highly regulated and highly regarded betting markets on the continent. With the World Cup underway, we’re thrilled to deliver our in-play product as well as a portfolio of tournament promotions for new and eligible customers across the country.” Elsewhere, bet365 has offered those affected by the recent massive lay-offs in the tech industry an opportunity to join the firm’s tech teams across bet365’s Stoke-on-Trent headquarters, as well as its central Manchester hub and via remote working. Recently, bet365 scooped the mobile sports betting product category at the EGR Operator Awards 2022.
