Bet24 founder re-enters Danish market
Holger Kristiansen teams with Danish mobile telecoms carrier TDC to launch Bet25, almost two years after Unibet acquired Bet24
Holger Kristiansen, the founder of Danish online egaming firm Bet24, has re-entered the Danish market with two new sites almost two years after Bet24 was acquired by Unibet.
Kristiansen has partnered with Denmark-based mobile telecoms carrier TDC to launch both Bet25.dk and Rod25.dk which will provide sports betting and casino services for the Danish market.
Kristiansen founded Bet24 in 2001 before selling the site to Swedish media firm Modern Times Group (MTG) in instalments between 2004 and 2006.
Unibet then acquired Bet24 from MTG for 13.5m in cash in 2012, migrated its customers to Unibet and incorporated the business under the Unibet brand.
Kristiansen went on to form egaming and media content firm ECOSYS in 2007 and teased that a successor to Bet24 was soon to be launched late last year.
“From Bet25.dk we will “ sometime in the new year “ offer the liberalised market a new Danish betting alternative,” Kristiansen said at the time.
The new sports betting site has launched with a special offer for tonight’s international football fixture between Denmark and England.
