Barcrest signs GTS deal
Scientific Games subsidiary to launch a selection of its games on Playtech-owned EdGE platform.
Scientific Games subsidiary Barcrest has signed a deal with Playtech’s Gaming Technology Solutions (GTS) which will see a number of its games integrated onto the solutions provider’s Enhanced Gaming Engine (EdGE).
The first games to be added to EdGE will be slot games Rainbow Riches and Ca$hino, with additional content to be integrated onto the platform during the course of the year.
Barcrest’s managing director of interactive gaming Alex Stephens commented: “Interactive gaming is a key area that we are committed to growing and GTS is perfectly positioned to help us expand our game distribution to new high-profile online gaming operators.”
The deal comes weeks after it was announced that GTS had agreed to rent 10,000 square feet of office space from Anise Developments Ltd, a company in which Playtech’s founder and majority shareholder Teddy Sagi has interests, as part of a series of related party transactions completed by Playtech ahead of its move to a premium listing on the London Stock Exchange.
GTS has had rent-free use of the property since November 2011, and will pay an aggregate annual rent of £750,000 for the premises, which has been refurbished and fitted out to the company’s specifications for a total cost of £350,000.
Barcrest, which signed a deal to launch a portfolio of its games on GameAccount Network’s skill gaming platform in May, was acquired by Scientific Games from IGT in September last year, for a total consideration of around £33m in cash.
