ARJEL enters agreement with DGOJ
French and Spanish regulators to cooperate on sharing of information relating to online gambling.
French regulatory authority ARJEL has entered into an agreement with its Spanish counterpart the DGOJ which will see the two bodies cooperate on the sharing of information concerning egaming.
The deal follows a similar agreement between ARJEL and the UK Gambling Commission, signed in July, as European regulators remain in constant dialogue with one another.
The DGOJ had been in discussions to join an existing memorandum of understanding between ARJEL and Italian regulator AAMS, however a spokesman for the latter confirmed to eGaming Review that the new agreement is purely between the French and Spanish regulators, while talks over other formal agreements continue.
Italy’s regulatory body remains in conversation with those of France, Spain and Portugal, with the quartet set to follow July’s meeting over a unified regulatory framework with a further coming together before the end of 2012.
A statement released following the July meeting explained that “Discussions took place on the conditions necessary for a possible shared liquidity in certain games among some of the countries participating to the meeting.” However it did not specify which games such shared liquidity was being considered for.
