Aristocrat targets online growth after profit rise
Gaming supplier cites North America as key area of growth following 17% profit jump as online distribution continues to grow
Land-based and online gaming supplier Aristocrat Leisure reported a 17% increase in net profits for the full-year ended 30 September 2013, boosted by the expanded distribution of its online product range.
The Australian firm reported net profits of AU$107m, up from $91.7m in 2012, however, overall revenues fell by 3.4% to $808.7m, due to fewer gaming machine releases in Japan.
Aristocrat’s online and lottery business contributed revenues of $21.4m, up 49% compared to last year.
The company said that more than 200 of its online games have now been deployed across a network of 30 operators.
“Our online and digital businesses are growing quickly and represent an exciting and expanding value stream that we are prioritising in line with our strategy,” CEO Jamie Odell said.
Meanwhile, North American revenues increased 6.6% and profits increased by 9.3%, with 294 land-based casnios currently running Aristocrat’s casino management system after 12 more were added during 2013.
Aristocrat acquired social game developer Product Madness in November 2012 in an effort to boost its online gaming credentials.
In recent months it has completed the integration and has begun deploying Aristocrat game content through Product Madness’ Heart of Vegas Facebook application.
Last year it also signed an online deal with GameAccount Network to replicate the UK-based gaming software business’ Internet Gaming System, principally for its land-based US casino customers.
