ANJ expands French National Police cooperation in new agreement

French gambling regulator ANJ has signed an information sharing and cooperation partnership with the Central Service of Races and Games (SCCJ) of the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ).

The partnership will allow the ANJ and the SCCJ to coordinate control actions, particularly in FDJ and PMU outlets and the casinos sector, with the aim of better protecting players.

The ANJ and SCCJ will discuss the possibility of creating jointly enforceable regulations and pooling investigatory resources to target online gaming operators and their suppliers.

The organisations will also collaborate on targeted controls affecting French exclusive gambling rights holders FDJ and PMU as well as retail gambling outlets and land-based casinos.

The ANJ jointly shares regulatory oversight of the land-based casino sector with the French Ministry of the Interior, with the two regulatory bodies working together to ensure operator compliance with French gambling law.

However, the Ministry of the Interior delegates certain aspects of these duties to the SCCJ, including the monitoring of French horseracing tracks and issuing licences to horseracing betting firms.

Elsewhere, the ANJ has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Dutch Gambling Authority (KSA) which also includes data sharing and regulatory cooperation on shared interests.

This work, for example, includes promotion of cross border cooperation and adoption of common principles guaranteeing a high level of protection for consumers, players and minors.

Strategic areas in which the two national regulators will work together include combatting money laundering, supervising player accounts, advertising and protecting consumers.
