In order to benchmark the online betting offers (foremost pre-game) of the major operators the researchers of the Online Gambling Quarterly analysed the number of bets/markets (not events) for various leagues offered on English-language sites of each operator.

For most operators the figures are the averages of a 7-day period (measured once a day in a selected week); for others (in cases where the analyses were more complex) a one-time analysis (once in the quarter on a specific day of the week) was applied.

The number of bets/markets alone surely cannot serve as indicator of a “good” and profitable offering – other factors, such as odds, … play at least as important a role. Nevertheless, in a market where many experts see decreasing chances for differentiation, the breadth of product range offered becomes important. Below the key results of the analysis:

Average of 9,616 football bets/markets offered – On average, the operators offered 9,616 football bets/markets in the key leagues at the time of the analyses.

Other than in the analyses above the researchers have looked at the number of events (not the number of bets/markets). The number of live events can change from one minute to the next (e.g., all football events on a matchday end more or less at the same time) and therefore varies strongly depending on date/time of the analysis.
