Benchmarking football betting, in-play wagering and casino games
In the third edition of a series of articles, the Online Gambling Quarterly analyses the number of football markets, live betting events and casino products offered on Sweden-facing websites
The Online Gambling Quarterly has this week delved into the number of football markets, in-play betting events, and casino games offered on major online gambling sites.
For most operators the figures analysed are the averages of a seven-day period (measured once a day in a selected week).
Football markets

- The Premier League dominates – On average, operators offered 1,195 markets for the Premier League; the maximum number of markets offered was 2,337.
- Average of 5,174 football bets/markets offered – On average, the operators analysed offered 5,174 football markets in the key leagues at the time of our analyses.
- Ladbrokes leads the way in football betting – In the overall ranking of offered football markets, Ladbrokes leads because it offers the highest number of bets in many leagues analysed.
In-play betting
As live betting now accounts for most of the revenue and stakes for many operators, the Online Gambling Quarterly also takes a closer look at this particular facet of sports betting. The number of live events can change from one minute to the next and therefore varies strongly depending on date/time of the analysis. Therefore, the researchers have focused on analysing the rank of each operator relative to the best practice.

Casino games on Sweden-facing sites
Many operators offer different numbers of casino games in different jurisdictions, and this is mainly for regulatory reasons. As the difference can be significant, the Online Gambling Quarterly features one jurisdiction in each edition – for the summer 2017 edition the researchers chose Sweden.

- Slot games dominate the casino section of online gambling operators with an average number of 376 slots per operator.
- As Betsson and Vera&John are placed among top ranked operators in nearly all categories, they ultimately lead the ranking when it comes to the widest range of casino game offered.
