Five minutes with... René Petersson of Better Collective
This month's quickfire Q&A comes courtesy of René Petersson, key account and relations manager, Better Collective
Q: What makes Better Collective a great partner for affiliates?
A: Better Collective is on the front-foot of affiliate marketing. Both in terms of content, compliance, brand-awareness and traffic. BC has been in business for more than 15 years and caters to a worldwide sports betting and casino audience, who for years has relied on its expertise and services to strengthen their knowledge of the operators and gambling as a whole.
Q: What do enjoy most about your job?
A: Building relationships and creating results with our partners. Seeing a joint venture grow equally between the operator and us as affiliates is the ideal scenario and what I strive to achieve with all my partners. I also enjoy the personal relations since being able to mix business with pleasure often drives both parties to invest even further in the partnership.
Q: If you could give one piece of advice to an aspiring affiliate manager, what would it be?
A: Don’t be afraid to ask questions. The more you know, the better decisions you can make.
Q: Who would play you in the movie about your life?
A: A young Will Smith (The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air).

Q: What’s your karaoke song of choice?
A: King of wishful thinking by Go West.
Q: Which one thing can’t you live without?
A: Hmm. Probably the internet. Can’t imagine how people survived without it pre-early 1990s.
Q: Who would you most like to be stuck in an elevator with?
A: Frank Lampard. I would pick his brain for Chelsea memories and it wouldn’t upset my missus either.
Q: Where would you time travel to and why?
A: Studio 54 in the late 1970s. Disco was at its peak and Studio 54 was top of the pops in terms of clubbing and it looked amazing.
Q: What is your favourite TV programme?
A: Pointless. Love quiz shows and know a lot of pointless stuff myself.
Q: What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
A: 90’s music or whiskey sour cocktails. Preferably together.

Q: If you won the lottery, what would you spend the money on?
A: Retire and buy myself a small football club to live out a real-life Football Manager game.
Q: Name one place everyone should visit before they die.
A: Las Vegas. Most have probably already been there but I love everything about the city. The weather, entertainment, restaurants, happy people, shows – the list goes on. It has it all.
