Paddy Power signs Welsh Rugby deal
Irish bookmaker becomes official betting partner of national side " deal follows Premier League deals earlier this year.
Paddy Power has signed a two-year deal with the Welsh Rugby Union to become its official betting partner.
The Irish bookmaker says it will seek to provide market-leading odds on games played by the Welsh national rugby team, which suffered a 10-33 defeat at the hands of world champions New Zealand yesterday.
Offers will include improved odds on try scorers and bonuses offered to Welsh rugby fans.
Craig Maxwell, head of sales and marketing for the Welsh Rugby Union said of the deal: “Paddy Power has an established reputation in the United Kingdom and the Welsh Rugby Union is delighted to welcome it as our official betting partner.
“Like Welsh Rugby Union, Paddy Power is a synonymous brand in its field. This, along with the company’s enthusiasm for rugby, is why we chose to align ourselves with Paddy Power and we are looking forward to a successful partnership.”
In February Paddy Power became he first ever official UK and Ireland betting partner of English football club Manchester City, and signed a similar deal with Everton in August.
In an agreement running until the end of the 2012-13 season, the Premier League side will partner with the Irish bookmaker “across a wide range of commercial activities” and offering exclusive odds to Manchester City supporters.
