Gamesys cuts suppliers on relaunched Virgin Games site
Gamesys takes just three weeks to relaunch newly acquired Virgin Games reducing number of suppliers to just its own in-house games and those of IGT.
Gamesys has relaunched its newly acquired Virgin Games business reducing the number of suppliers on the site to just its own in-house games and those of IGT.
In the three weeks since eGR exclusively revealed that Gamesys had acquired the company it has rebuilt and relaunched the UK-facing Virgin Games site “from scratch”, according to a source close to the company. It has also identified which suppliers from its previous roster were the most popular with a Gamesys spokesman telling eGR that it has purposefully narrowed down the number of games offered on the site to just those designed by its in-house design team and that of US casino games provider IGT.
The games on the new site include Gamesys slots Bejeweled 2, X-Factor and Zuma, three bingo game variants, and nine table games including roulette, multi-hand blackjack and video poker. IGT’s games include Da Vinci Diamonds, Kitty Glitter and Monopoly Plus. In total both Gamesys and IGT have 24 games on the newly launched site.
Under its previous Virgin Group ownership and lead by former managing director Simon Burridge Virgin Games offered more than 300 casino titles form a host of different suppliers including Microgaming, Net Entertainment, Playtech and Cryptologic.
“They were the most popular on the previous site but this is just version one, there are much bigger and brighter things to come in the next six months,” the spokesman said.
The spokesman told eGR that Gamesys is currently involved in a number of discussions with various suppliers with the prospect of “lighting up the site” at a later date. A number of these suppliers are understood to be content partners that had games on the previous Virgin Games site.
Gamesys has moved the Virgin Games site onto its own proprietary platform and is using its own marketing and technical teams to manage the process. eGR understands there is no one person heading up the project.
“Historically we [Gamesys] have never integrated third parties but with this project we very much believe in a more managed choice strategy.
“We’ve flipped this round in just three weeks and are currently migrating all the existing players onto the new site and onto our platform. All our efforts for the next four weeks are going to be focused on that and only matter that has been done will we then attract new players,” he added.
