Lottomatica Group profits up in 2012
Overall revenues for the year up 3.4% to 3.08bn " Italian revenues down due to taxation and sportsbook payouts.
A minor decline in Lottomatica’s Italian business offset overall increases in profitability and revenues during 2012, the company has announced in its financial results for the year ended 31 December 2012.
Total revenues from the largely land-based slots Milan-listed gaming company’s Italian operations were approximately 1.79bn in 2012 compared to 1.88bin in 2011, impacted by increased VLT taxation, higher sports betting payouts, and lower Lotto late number wagers, the company said.
However, Italian EBITDA grew by 14m to 736m due to cost efficiencies and contributions from all product lines excluding sports betting, which was impacted by exceptionally high payouts.
Overall revenues for the group totalled 3.08bn, up 3.4% compared to 2.97bn in 2011. Consolidated revenue growth was mainly driven by GTECH Lottery and SPIELO International.
In January Lottomatica Group announced plans to change its name to GTECH S.p.A, as part of what it describes as “a plan to further integrate its businesses on a global basis.”
The announcement came as the group – which owns Italian-facing operator Lottomatica and service provider Spielo G2 – was announced as the latest recipient of a Nevada service provider licence for online poker.
The company’s land-based and online arms, Spielo International and GTECH G2, were merged in October 2011 with the combined entity renamed Spielo G2 in December.
In January Lottomatica Group and International Game Technology (IGT) expanded their partnership to launch the US gaming machine manufacturer’s full suite of online games in Italy.
Under the new agreement, Lottomatica will offer IGT’s entire online slots offering and game content online and on mobile, with a particular focus on casino games after Italian regulator AAMS “ now merged with the country’s Customs Authority “ issued the first authorisations for the product in December.
