Paf names new deputy CEO
Johanna Backholm previously served as HR director for the Power 50 operator.
à land Islands-based operator Paf has named Johanna Backholm as its new deputy CEO, serving under chief executive Anders Ingves.
Backholm (pictured), who serves as HR director of the company, has worked for Paf since 2002, joining as a human resources assistant, before progressing through the ranks. She will take on her new role from 1 April, with the deputy CEO position having been vacant since the departure of former incumbent Thomas ‘Pitchi’ Lundberg in February last year.
Ingves said of the appointment: “Paf’s philosophy is that the company can only grow if the people grow, and Johanna has the ability to help our colleagues to grow.
“The appointment of Johanna shows not only that she is an extremely competent person, but also highlights the central role of HR issues in business development,” he added.
Backholm described the post as “very exciting”, adding “I think you should take the chances you get. I am, of course, delighted that my skills are appreciated and that staff are given such high priority.”
The news comes after the Power 50 operator temporarily closed its dot.es poker offering last month, citing insufficient player liquidity, however director Anders Wiklund said the operator “Hope[s] to re-launch poker [in Spain] soon again with a better customer experience.”
Paf also added a poker offering on Microgaming’s MPN late last year, augmenting its Ongame and International Poker Network skins.
