PugglePay announces Mr Green and Betsson deals
Scandinavian firms become first major operators to sign up for invoice-based mobile payments solution
Scandinavian-focused operators Betsson and Mr Green have become the first major operators to partner with mobile payments technology provider PugglePay.
PugglePay, which has around 20 smaller gambling operator clients, supplies technology allowing players to deposit using their mobile phone numbers.
The company was founded in 2012 by chief executive Kristofer Ekman Sinclair and sales director Johan Friis, who previously held roles with Unibet’s B2B subsidiary Kambi Sports Solutions and Betsson.
Customers enter their mobile number into the PugglePay cashier at the gaming site and receive a code via text message, which allows the company to verify a player’s identity and carry out a credit check before the agreed amount is deposited into their gaming account.
PugglePay is predominantly aimed at markets where customers use invoice-based payment solutions such as Scandinavia, Germany and Latin America, but Friis is also targeting the UK-facing egaming sector.
“If you look at Sky Bet, around 65% of total volume comes from mobile, for Unibet around 35% of sales volume comes from mobile,” Friis said. “But for many companies only around 10% of the mobile turnover is really deposited via the mobile.”
The solution will be soft-launched on the Mr Green site on Wednesday 21 August.
“Looking into how online shoppers prefer to pay, in Sweden invoice is the preferred solution, and around 60% of ecommerce payments are done via invoice, so it’s easy to see there is huge demand for this kind of solution,” Marcus Nylén, Mr Green CEO, said.
