Hilary Stewart-Jones joins Playtech board
Industry veteran steps down from role at DLA Piper to chair risk and compliance committee at software firm
Hilary Stewart-Jones has left law firm DLA Piper to take on a role as a non-executive director of egaming software provider Playtech as part of a boardroom shuffle following the resignation of Chairman Roger Withers.
Withers’ resignation and retirement from the board was announced at the company’s last results call, however he will remain at Playtech as an adviser until the end of September 2014.
Having served on the Playtech board since 2006, former senior non-executive director Alan Jackson, has been appointed as non-executive chairman effective immediately.
Hilary Stewart-Jones joins the company as a non-executive director and will chair the board’s risk and compliance committee and remuneration committee, while also sitting on the audit committee.
Stewart-Jones has more than 15 years’ experience advising companies on issues pertaining to gaming law, having held the position of in-house head of Ladbrokes’ gambling division for five years before joining Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP as a partner in 2000.
She will be leaving her partnership at DLA Piper to assume the role but will stay on in a consultancy role, with Alan Jackson delighted to welcome her to the company.
“She brings a wealth of gaming sector knowledge which will enable her to make a significant contribution to the company and its future growth,” he added.
