Betsson recruits casino management duo
Peter Weinreich and Markus Aurala join from Betfair and Mr Green respectively
Nordic operator Betsson has bolstered its casino management team with two new hires from rival betting companies.
Betfair’s former head of international marketing Peter Weinreich takes on the role of Betsson’s managing director for Casino.dk, while ex-Mr Green chief product officer Markus Aurala has joined the operator as its overall head of casino.
Betsson CEO Magnus Silfverberg told eGaming Review both Weinreich and Aurala joined the operator last month.
Weinreich spent more than four years with Betfair after joining the operator as its country manager for Denmark in October 2009. He stepped up to become Betfair’s area manager for 10 countries in Europe in May 2012, before becoming head of international marketing in February 2013.
His new role will see him oversee the development of Betsson’s Casino.dk business as it looks to bolster its online performance in the country since it adopted a regulated framework in January 2012.
Aurala had been at Mr Green for just over a year after joining the operator from PAF in September 2012. He spent more than four years at PAF, serving as the firm’s head of site development between May 2008 and April 2009 before becoming PAF’s head of games.
He will join Betsson’s base in Malta, whereas Weinreich will continue to be based in Copenhagen.
