Shane Doherty named as head of PaddyPower.com
Former head of finance for online business takes responsibility for driving growth of sportsbook and egaming channels
Paddy Power has promoted its online head of finance Shane Doherty to take charge of its core sportsbook and gaming site, eGaming Review has learned.
As head of PaddyPower.com Doherty will report directly into online MD Peter O’Donovan and will be responsible for driving overall revenue, profitability and market share growth.
The position had been vacant since Christopher Coyne made an internal move in May 2013 to become head of competitive analysis for the Paddy Power’s digital gaming business, with executive headhunting firm The Up Group subsequently hired to fill the role.
Doherty joined Paddy Power last May in the newly-created role of online head of finance within its online division, responsible for driving the financial management of Paddy Power’s digital business.
Prior to that he worked in a variety of senior leadership roles at eircom and PwC.
“I am delighted to be announcing Shane’s appointment as head of pp.com. Since starting at Paddy Power, he has demonstrated great leadership, passion and expertise,” O’Donovan said.
“Shane will be joining an already strong and successful team and will play a key role in delivering on our ambitions to continue to outgrow the market in 2014 and beyond.”
Doherty’s appointment comes at a time when Paddy Power has lost a number of senior employees, including its live casino operations manager Robert Fell, head of bingo Oonagh Flanagan head of egaming Isaac Ward who left his role to join William Hill-owned Australian bookmaker Tom Waterhouse.
