Sportech partners with Resorts Casino in New Jersey
Joint venture with NYX Gaming will provide Resorts with a full suite of online casino games, plans to go live by January 2015
Sportech looks set to enter the fray in New Jersey after signing a deal to supply the Resorts Casino with an online casino platform through a joint venture with NYX Gaming.
SNG Interactive, the joint venture between Sportech and NYX Gaming, will provide Resorts with a full suite of casino games but not online poker, with Resorts existing relationship with PokerStars apparently unaffected.
Sportech and NYX will each invest US$2m in the project, and plans to go live to players in the Garden State by January 2015, pending approval from the state regulator.
Sportech CEO Ian Penrose (pictured) told eGaming Review he doesn’t expect too many regulatory hurdles as the UK-based company is already licensed in the state through its horserace wagering business.
“We are delighted to have reached this agreement with such a well-known Atlantic City venue,” he said.
“The establishment of online gaming activities in New Jersey represents an important next step in the development of our US business and we are well positioned for future growth across the US as regulation permits,” he added.
The deal does not affect Resorts’ partnership with PokerStars, which the land-based operator signed back in June last year.
PokerStars looks set to re-enter the US egaming market following a $4.9bn takeover by Amaya Gaming, with licensing discussions reportedly already underway with the New Jersey regulator.
