Oddschecker: Bet365 reclaims number one position
Bet365 topples Betfair at top of the June leader board despite placing second by international football market share
Bet365 has reclaimed its number one position in Oddschecker’s betting slip clicks table for June despite rival Betfair coming out on top for international football betting during the World Cup.
The Stoke-based operator, which recently posted annual revenues of £1.3bn, saw its overall market share decline from 16.99% in May to 16.65% last month as smaller bookmakers such as BetBright and Betdaq were able to grab more than 1% each with various World Cup offers.
However, that marginal loss was still enough to see bet365 rise to the top of the charts after Betfair’s share reduced from 17.11% to 16.39%, although Betfair Sportsbook also posted a 2.80% market share.
“As expected, June was a massive month for Oddschecker as it saw record levels of traffic on site across international football with the arrival of the world’s great competition, the World Cup,” a spokesperson for the odds comparison site said.
The competitiveness between operators during the month-long tournament was highlighted by Betfair’s relatively low 13.50% international football market share “ although its Sportsbook product accrued 4.25% – with bet365 and BetVictor in second and third place respectively with 12.52% and 11.53%.
According to Oddschecker, Paddy Power’s “stand out” offers helped the Irish operator come out on top during Royal Ascot and the Epsom Derby and helped it increase its overall market share from 8.52% to 9.17% but that wasn’t enough to overtake BetVictor for third place.
Sky Bet’s market share increased from 4.91% to 5.40% and replaced Ladbrokes in seventh position boosted by a 5.18% market share from international football.
