Kambi joins WLA as lottery focus gathers pace
Sportsbook supplier becomes member of World Lottery Association as part of long-term plan to target lottery operators
Kambi Sports Solutions’ plan to focus on the national lottery market is gathering pace after the B2B sportsbook supplier was accepted into the world’s biggest lottery organisation.
The World Lottery Association (WLA) yesterday accepted Kambi as an associate member, a move which hands the First North Stockholm-listed supplier access to more than 150 state-authorised lotteries.
The membership, which was awarded after Kambi gained the required two recommendations from current WLA members, sees the supplier join fellow B2B sports betting suppliers Betgenius and Sportradar on the associate list.
The membership forms part of Kambi’s long-term business strategy and comes after CEO Kristian Nylen earlier this year revealed the supplier was planning to target the potentially lucrative national lottery market.
According to Kambi’s chief commercial officer Ian Freeman, the award of the WLA membership via the recommendations has legitimised the supplier’s presence within the lottery market.
“The gaining of our WLA associate membership is the continuation and execution of our strategy to work more closely with the global lottery market,” Freeman told eGaming Review this morning.
Last month Kambi, which in May spun-off from parent company Unibet, announced revenues in H1 2014 had grown 84% year-on-year in what was the supplier’s first set of results since its market floatation in June.
The firm currently supplies fully-managed sportsbook platforms for the likes of Unibet, 888 and 32Red.
