Betway head of development departs for Microsoft
Michael Gillett leaves gambling industry to join tech giant after fronting up operator’s product development
Betway head of development Michael Gillett has left the online operator after eight years with the firm.
Gillett had served as Betway head of development since January 2021 at the company’s London office. He exited the Super Group-owned business on 10 June.
Gillett spent more than six years with Betway’s technology division, Win Technologies, initially joining the company in July 2014 as a web developer.
He then became a lead web developer in March 2016 before being promoted to lead developer in March 2018.
In his final role with Win Technologies, he served as a solutions architect from September 2021 until his promotion to head of development.
Alongside his work in the gambling industry, Gillett has spent more than a decade as a Windows Insider MVP.
In this role, he has written, discussed and investigated the latest Microsoft technology the years, while also performing an organisational role for fellow Insiders.
Gillett confirmed he is now set to join Microsoft bringing the curtain down on his time within the gambling industry.
He said: “After 11 fantastic years I’ll soon stop being a Microsoft MVP [and] in July I will be joining Microsoft.
“My last day at Win Technologies and Betway was the 10 June and I’m enjoying a little career break before I join. I will miss the people at WinTech so much, I’ve had brilliant mentors and learnt so much but now it’s time for the next adventure,” he added.
