Luckbox sets sights on US and Canada expansion in 2022
CEO Thomas Rosander details potential market access agreements in states instead of sole licence approval
Luckbox CEO Thomas Rosander has outlined his plans for global expansion for the esports-first operator with a focus on Canada and the US.
Rosander said the operator would enter a “number of regulated markets” this year as it continues to action its growth roadmap.
He cited the growing interest in esports betting in Canada as a core reason for venturing into the market.
He said: “Canada is the first in line. We’re a Canadian company, we’re listed on the Toronto Exchange, so it’s very important for us to be there and we’re looking forward to offering our products and games to the Canadian audience.
Rosander went on to detail his plans for tackling the US, noting that a straightforward licence approval is not the only avenue available to Luckbox in its aspirations.
He continued: “We’re definitely looking at the US. There’s a lot of movement in that market right now and we are carefully deciding which states to go into and in what way, and there are many ways to enter that market, besides just doing it up front and going for a licence directly.
“It can be through partnerships and other business models. It’s important for us to show off our products and what we can do for the American audience.
“That’s what leads our strategy there; it doesn’t matter if it’s a straight up sportsbook or some other kind of business model or partnership with other operators in any of the states,” he concluded.
This month, Luckbox has bolstered its senior management team with the appointment of Benn Timbury as COO.
The operator has also onboarded former Mr Green CEO Bo Wänghammar to its board of directors.
