IGT and Scientific Games join forces for cashless gaming solution
Supplier giants ink cross-licensing agreement to accelerate cashless gaming technology in US market
IGT and Scientific Games have put pen to paper on a cross-licensing agreement on cashless gaming technologies.
Under the remit of the partnership, IGT and Scientific Games will be able to offer patented cashless gaming technology from the pair’s combined portfolio to new operator partners.
The two businesses said the new solution would allow for the US gaming industry to “quickly increase adoption of cashless technology” by using the strongest feature from each company’s arsenal.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Matt Wilson, Scientific Games gaming CEO, said: “This new programme allows Scientific Games and IGT to combine our leading IP for the benefit of our customers, and our industry.
“Consumers are increasingly comfortable using cashless technology, and they will continue to expect this option to be available on the floor. We’re excited to partner with IGT to make it easier for operators to deliver for their players,” he added.
Renato Ascoli, IGT global gaming CEO, commented: “This cross-licensing agreement provides casino operators access to the gaming industry’s most compelling portfolio of cashless gaming technologies.”
“Cashless gaming is here to stay, and this strong portfolio of cashless IP can help casino operators ensure the safety of players by reducing cash handling and points of contact with slot games, while considerably improving casino operating efficiencies,” he concluded.
