Kindred to fund AI-focused AML research
Operator looks to bolster compliance and continue its exploration into artificial intelligence
Kindred has joined forces with City, University of London, the Research Centre for Machine Learning and responsible gambling analytics firm BetBuddy to investigate the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in strengthening anti-money laundering decision processes.
The operator will fund and support the PhD programme initiated by City and BetBuddy in 2014, which ties into Kindred’s latest investment in the link between AI and detecting gambling addiction behaviours.
Kindred’s money laundering reporting officer, George Debrincat, said the initiative would enable the group to improve its compliance through the use of AI and big data.
“This project is yet another step in Kindred’s journey to find innovative ways of improving our business,” he added.
Head of City’s Research Centre for machine learning, professor Artur Garcez, commented: “It is great to see our models and theory put to the test in a fulfilling collaboration that also drives new research that can improve peoples’ lives.”
