Fredrik Burvall confirmed as Cherry CEO
Acting-CEO appointed to permanent role where he will look to build on strong Q1 revenue growth
Fredrik Burvall has been appointed CEO and president of Scandinavia-facing casino operator Cherry, after six months serving in the role on an acting basis.
Burvall replaces Emil Sunvisson, who stepped down in December as part of a management shakeup which also saw Cherry’s largest investor Morten Klein take up the new role of business development and partnerships.
Burvall has been at Cherry since 2006, previously serving as the firm’s vice president and CFO.
“Fredrik Burvall has showed a strong drive and passion for the company during his years as CFO and vice president. Furthermore, he has a vast knowledge of the gaming industry,” Rolf à kerlind, chairman of the board, said.
“Cherry made some management changes in December 2014 and the combination of strengthening our Malta organization and Fredrik’s experience will result in a group management that will help Cherry to reach profitability with continued strong growth,” he added.
Cherry reported strong online gaming revenue growth for Q1 earlier this month, up 49% year-on-year, with Burvall pledging to continue the firm’s heavy marketing spend in search of greater market share.
The firm is also looking to diversify, with plans to launch a sportsbook this quarter with provider SBTech.
