OpenBet targets second screeners
Deal with new television betting service Win Cash Live aims to capitalise on growth of second screening in UK
OpenBet will provide the backend online platform for a TV and online multi-channel operation aimed at cashing in on the growth of second screening on softer markets such as X Factor.
Win Cash Liveâs televised betting service soft launched earlier this month on Sky UK channel 192 every night between 10pm and 1am. It previews betting opportunities broadly aimed at a female audience, directing viewers to its website where users can place bets.
OpenBetâs casino products are expected to be integrated into the platform shortly.
Second screening is currently on this rise – with OpenBet citing research showing 77% of people use a laptop while watching television while 68% of viewers use mobile devices.
âThis is all part of the omni-channel strategy of the right product, at the right time, for the right personâ Jeremy Thompson-Hill, OpenBet chief executive, said.
Thompson-Hill said OpenBet had to fend-off competition from a number of operators in order to win the three-year contract, with Win Cash Live attracted to Openbetâs front-end flexibility.
âWe are not a managed service and we wonât win deals that want a managed service so we appeal to people who want flexibility and want to drive the business in a direction that they choose,â he added.
