Bwin.party continues mobile progression
Mobile and touch revenues up to 23% of total GGR as operator plans new sportsbook app release
Bwin.party continued its steady mobile progress in Q3 as it reported the percentage of total gross gaming revenue (GGR) derived from the platform increase to 23%, up 10 percentage points on the corresponding period a year ago.
CEO Norbert Teufelberger said the firm had âcontinued to make good progress on expanding our mobile footprintâ and planned to improve its mobile offer with the launch of a new mobile sportsbook in the coming months, which will feature embedded casino games for the first time.
Bwin.party has also been steadily increasing its portfolio of casino games and added six more throughout Q3.
The firmâs mobile casino was highlighted as a particular weakness by Teufelberger at bwinâs Q1 results disclosure in March, revealing it had just six casino games optimised for mobile devices at the time.
However, it was bwin.partyâs mobile poker product which received the biggest overhaul in June this year and the launch helped increase poker GGR derived from mobile from 3% in September 2013 to 7% in the same month this year.
But the increase failed to offset another poor quarter from the vertical with net revenue down 25% year-on-year.
Its mobile bingo business however continued to perform strongly with 26% of GGR derived from the mobile channel, up 17 percentage points on last yearâs performance following an overhaul of the Foxy Bingo brand earlier this year.
