PartyPoker launches gesture-based poker app
Fastforward: special edition iOS app enables adds tap and swipe interface for in-game play
PartyPoker has launched an innovative new poker app for iPhone based around a patent pending swipe-based user interface as the operator looks to boost its stagnating poker revenues.
Fastforward: special edition launched this week and enables players to play on their iPhones one-handed by using gestures as shortcuts to fulfil certain in-game actions.
Players can swipe across their playing cards to fold, drag and place chips to bet or raise, increase or decrease the chip value using a slider at the bottom of the screen and check by tapping on the handset twice.
Unlike other poker apps fastforward has been designed to play with the device held in vertical mode and follows on from a host of improvements made to PartyPokerâs flagship poker app last month month.
Bwin.party revamped its PartyPoker product last year but has yet to see any real gains in the vertical and earlier this month reported a decrease in poker revenues after what it described as a âsoft performanceâ.
During a trading update earlier this month, which revealed mobile gaming revenues had risen 21% year-on-year, CEO Norbert Teufelberger hinted that a number of new mobile poker developments were due for release in Q3.
