Mobile revenue drives NetPlayTV to record 2013
Revenue from mobile and tablet up 188% year-on-year as operator unveils mobile sportsbook plans
NetPlayTV recorded a 188% surge in revenue from mobile and tablet devices in 2013 and following record results the operator revealed plans for a mobile sportsbook launch in time for the World Cup.
Total revenue jumped 31% year-on-year to £28.5m driven largely by an increase from mobile devices, with the channel now responsible for one third of group turnover.
The growth was powered by a rise in the number of new depositing players on mobile devices, which amounted to 36% of new depositing players throughout 2013, up on the 21% recorded in 2012.
The company expects this figure to continue to rise throughout the forthcoming year with mobile now playing a central role in its advertising campaigns and additional mobile products due to be released in the coming months.
The most notable of these launches is a mobile sportsbook for its recently acquired Vernons brand, which is planned for release in Q2 2014 ahead of this summerâs FIFA World Cup.
In a brief trading update the company also revealed that mobile revenue had continued to grow in Q1 2014 and had contributed 35% of total group turnover for that period.
â2014 has started with a strong increase in the core KPIs that drive the growth of the business and I am confident that we will continue to improve performance year on year,â Clive Jones, non-executive chairman at NetPlayTV, said.
