Wednesday news round-up 04/12
This week’s big stories in mobile featuring Betfair, Ladbrokes, 888, Sky Betting & Gaming and Gala Bingo
Betfair reported 57% of its sportsbook revenue is now coming through the mobile channels, with mobile growing by 70% in the six months to 31 October 2013. The firm didn’t break down mobile revenue for its core exchange product, but said 25% of gaming revenue is coming through mobile.
The performance of its mobile sportsbook product was highlighted as a key area of growth, however. “Much of this growth came from the mobile channel which accounted for the majority of new activations and contributed 50% of revenue in the period. In October, 57% of revenue was from mobile,” a Betfair statement said.
888 and WSOP have become the first operators to launch mobile poker apps in the recently regulated New Jersey market. Both sites use the same 888 software and the apps can be downloaded by New Jersey residents in the US iTunes store.
UK bookmaker Ladbrokes has launched Net Entâs portfolio of mobile Touch games on its mobile casino site. Ladbrokes originally partnered with Net Ent in July, and the launches will complement Ladbrokesâ existing mobile casino games following Augustâs launch of mobile blackjack and roulette games developed by Realistic Games.
Ladbrokes has also launched mobile and tablet-optimised versions of its new exchange product one month after the desktop version was introduced. The new launches come as part of a wider upgrade package including minor bug fixes, with additional features to the exchange expected to be added early next year.
Sky Betting and Gaming has launched its new mobile-friendly Sky Poker client following a major overhaul of the product. âWeâve obviously seen the popularity of mobile and tablet on other products within the Sky Betting and Gaming family and weâre sure this will be popular for Sky Poker players too,â Milner added.
Gala Bingo has lined up an exclusive partnership to launch Coronation Street-themed bingo and slots products via the Gala Bingo App. Gala Bingo said it hopes the deal will see it attract some of the soapâs regular 10 million viewers. The partnership follows a similar deal Gala Bingo entered earlier on in the year with ITVâs Saturday night entertainment show Ant and Decâs Saturday Night Takeaway.
Metro Play has signed a deal to add Net Entertainment content to its mobile casino offering. Metro Play how has over 80 games on the mobile platform. The firm added new games will be offered every month.
