Jermaine Jenas fronts £1.6m summer campaign for Great British Racing
Former England international to be the face of “Everyone’s Turf” campaign alongside jockey Khadijah Mellah and presenter Chris Hughes
One Show host and football pundit Jermaine Jenas has been installed as the face of this summer’s “Everyone’s Turf” campaign on behalf of Great British Racing.
The initiative has been launched to raise awareness to both regular and irregular racegoers in order to highlight the wide array of activities that can be experienced at more than 400 fixtures during the summer months.
The campaign features the William Hill ambassador as he walks through a racecourse in the sunshine promoting the positive aspects of visiting a summer meet.
Along his way he bumps into Khadijah Mellah, the first British Muslim woman to win a British horserace, and former Love Island contestant and ITV Racing presenter Chris Hughes.
The campaign, which has already launched, will target potential track visitors through the months of July, August and September.
These three summer months generated around 35% of all visits to racecourses in 2021.
Jenas, a former England international who also a pundit on Match of the Day, said: “I am really excited to be part of Everyone’s Turf. The sporting action at racecourses is second to none and the range of raceday experiences on offer is setting the benchmark for days out this summer.”
Speaking to the Racing Post, Great British Racing CEO Rod Street said that the campaign was purposefully “broad in image” in order to appeal to all demographics.
Street said: “We are delighted to have Jermaine supporting the launch of Everyone’s Turf as we encourage everyone to head to their local track and sample all that a raceday has to offer.”
