Paddy Power head of mischief departs after four months
Duncan Wright links up with Alex Donohue-led Press Box PR after short-lived spell heading up marketing efforts for operator
Paddy Power’s head of mischief Duncan Wright has departed the Irish bookmaker after just four months.
Wright, who joined Paddy Power from his role as a senior football and sports reporter for The Sun in January, has stepped away from his first-ever role in the gambling industry, only months after linking up with the firm.
After almost three decades working in journalism, Wright joined the operator to head up its tongue-in-cheek marketing efforts.
However, the switch of industries was short lived, with Wright having left the Flutter Entertainment brand in April and taking up a freelance media consultancy role in the meantime.
Wright has now joined former Ladbrokes PR head Alex Donohue at his Press Box PR firm as an account director and media liaison.
Donohue, who previously spent time with the LADbible Group, established Press Box PR in January 2018.
The firm has worked with the likes of Betfair, Better Collective and Stake.com across a number of campaigns, including adding Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero to Stake.com’s marketing efforts.
Speaking on his new appointment, Wright said: “Very pleased to say I’m joining Alex Donohue and his excellent team at Press Box PR as account director and media liaison.
“Already with an excellent reputation, I am excited to get going helping the company continue its growth, delivering engaging content for brand and media,” he added.
