XLMedia has recruited Nigel Leigh as its new chief information officer (CIO).
A veteran of the media sector, Leigh most recently served as chief digital officer at JPI Media, where he was responsible for a wholesale reshaping of the firm’s digital and commercial structures, which included a rebuild of the group’s entire technology stack.
He also spent three years at Johnson Press in several C-level roles including eight months as chief digital officer, overseeing the group’s digital strategy on more than 120 websites including the news.co.uk, Scotsman and Yorkshire Post websites.
In addition, Leigh spent eight years at Telegraph Media Group including two years as head of commercial platforms digital and more than three years overseeing the group’s lifestyle channels as head of digital.
In his new role as CIO, Leigh will be responsible for defining XLMedia’s long-term technology roadmap, spearheading the group’s technology and data strategies.
XLMedia group CEO Stuart Simms welcomed the appointment of Leigh as CIO.
“Nigel’s hiring is part of our continued commitment to strengthen our use of data to help us make smarter business decisions, build faster and more efficient operations and to forge closer links with our consumers,” Simms explained.
“Consumers expect to be treated as individuals and want to deal with companies which understand who they are and what they’re going through – and which appreciate their needs are changing every single day.
“Nigel’s wealth of experience will be a key asset to our company as we look for new ways to be even more targeted, precise and personalised – optimising our customers’ budgets to target consumers with hyper relevant and contextualised information and offers,” he added.
