Kindred donates handball sponsorship rights to mental health foundation
Agreement will apply throughout EHF Euro 2020 tournament
Kindred Group has donated all its exposure rights to the European Handball Federation’s Euro 2020 tournament to the European Network of Active Living for Mental Health (ENALMH).
The agreement is valid for both the male and female versions of the tournament, and follows Kindred concluding a sponsorship deal to cover the 2020 tournament for its Unibet brand last month.
Timo Mastelinck, Kindred Group’s global head of sponsorships, said the donation was part of the Group’s wider efforts to promote mental health across Europe.
“If we can contribute to raise awareness of how to prevent mental health problems by this donation, then it is a win-win situation. We are proud to support ENALMH in their important work,” Mastelinck said.
ENALMH operates as a mental health network that promotes active living and a holistic approach to dealing with mental health issues.
The Men’s EHF EUROS 2020 take place in Sweden, Austria and Norway from the 10-26 January while the women’s tournament will be held in Denmark and Norway from the 3-20 December 2020.
Jan Drobny, VP of ENALMH, said connecting the foundation with a major European sporting event such as the EHF European championship would allow it to achieve the “dimension that it really deserves”.
“Thanks to the opportunity provided by Kindred Group, ENAMLH will be able to support the spirit of the sport, to meet the Norwegian community of sport or mental health, to discuss with the sport industry and to share our ‘move to balance’ message with the big audience,” Drobny added.
Kindred Group operates several mental health-led initiatives, including the Team Talk programme, undertaken in the UK through its partnership with EFL Championship side Derby County.
