Varun Mathure departs the Malta-based affiliate giant for a new head of growth role at Midnite
Catena Media’s head of UK marketing, Varun Mathure, has left the Malta-based affiliate firm to join esports betting start-up Midnite.
Mathure started in his new role as head of growth at Midnite on 29 July. He will be based in Midnite’s Farringdon office and will report into CEO and co-founder Nick Wright.
Mathure will be tasked with creating and enhancing the customer journey across the acquisition and retention funnel for Midnite while looking to grow the business through paid media.
In his previous role at Catena Media, Mathure was in charge of the marketing budget and strategy for London-based brands including BettingPro, GG and LatestBettingSites.

Mathure, who previously worked in marketing for Kindred Group, said: “As someone who has worked at gambling operators in the past, my experience at Catena helped me learn a lot about the various customer acquisition strategies and an insight into what customers are looking for.
“Now that I am back on the operator side of the business, I hope to employ my learnings here and help Midnite grow into a leading esports brand.
“Esports is a field that is currently expanding at an incredible rate and there are more people watching and actively playing esports than ever before,” he added.
Midnite was founded in August 2018 by Wright and his business partner Daniel Qu. The pair also founded Sky Bet’s exclusive DFS game Dribble.
Dribble won in the Fantasy Sports Operator category at the 2017 EGR Operator Awards.
