Betfair closes in at top of Oddschecker rankings
Bet365 leads referrals for fifth month in a row in July but dip in market share sees Betfair narrow gap
Bet365 has retained its position at the top of Oddschecker’s bet-slip-click market share rankings for July however a dip in its impressive June share enabled perennial rival Betfair to make up lost ground.
The Stoke-headquartered operator recorded 20.85% of all click-throughs in July, down from June’s 22.08% share but still ahead of the 17.90% shared between Betfair’s sportsbook and exchange.
With little football action during the month, attention in July was focused on cricket, with Betfair taking top spot during the Ashes with a 13.84% share, which topped Paddy Power’s 12.93%.
Betfair also led the golf rankings with 13.83% ahead of bet365’s 11.46%, and the operator closed bet365’s lead in horseracing from 5% in June to less than 2.5% in July.
Betfair’s improved performance will reignite hope that it may be able to reclaim top spot next month, a position it last held in February.
Paddy Power retained third position in the overall rankings, despite a slight decline to 8.94% of clicks, while William Hill and Sky Bet remained broadly static at fourth and fifth position with an 8.31% and 8.08% share respectively.
The rest of the top 10 also remained in their June positions, with BetVictor (7.17%), Coral (5.73%), Ladbrokes (5.16%), Betfred (3.2%), Stan James (2.64%) completing the list.
