Sky Bet named first online-only Senet Group member
The Leeds-based operator joins the likes of William Hill and Ladbrokes to become the latest member of the self-regulatory body
Sky Betting & Gaming has become the first online-only gambling operator to join the UK industryâs self-regulatory body, the Senet Group.
The Leeds-based firm is now the sixth operator to join the Senet Group and its addition comes just four months after sister publication eGaming Review reported the body was in advanced discussions with an online operator.
âThe gambling industry has definitely upped its game on social responsibility issues over the last 12 months and the Senet Group has been a key part of those efforts,â Richard Flint, chief executive of Sky Betting & Gaming, said.
âThereâs obviously still further room for improvement but Iâm really looking forward to helping shape the groupâs work on online gambling issues,â he added.
Senet Group chair Wanda Goldwag said she was delighted to add Sky Betting & Gaming to its list of members as it looks to launch new responsible gambling campaigns throughout 2016.
âRemote gambling is the fastest growing sector of the industry, with innovations being developed regularly,â Goldwag said.
âItâs therefore particularly important that we will have a leading operator in this space to inform the development of our code of conduct,â she added.
Sky Betting & Gaming now has a three-month âgrace periodâ in which to comply fully with the groupâs âEnforceable Commitmentsâ, which includes the prohibition of new customer offers advertised on TV before 9pm.
The Senet Group now consists of William Hill, Ladbrokes, Coral, Paddy Power Betfair, Scotbet and Sky Betting & Gaming.
