William Hill unveils new native apps
Three new iOS products offer a softer, fast-paced take on sports betting
William Hill has unveiled three new apps designed to offer punters alternative betting opportunities, as part of its continued in-house innovation drive.
The iOS products have been created by a small team of developers working in WHLabs, which has offices in Shoreditch and Tel Aviv, with Hills announcing a limited roll-out in order to gather feedback before a wider launch later this year.
The new ‘Cheer Me Up’ product follows Hills’ in-play darts app by applying casino-style elements to sports betting, allowing users to bet on events during football matches which are selected by a roulette wheel, such as if a corner, goal kick or free kick occurs first.
Meanwhile the ‘Rapid’ app offers personalised bet notifications to users who preconfigure their preferences, along with a stripped down betslip which orders bets in chronological order.
Finally, the ‘Yes/No’ app offers customers a 33/1 pay-out for predicting the correct side of six events in a product it hopes will have applications both in sports events and novelty markets.
“As well as the ‘full fat’ experience of our rich sportsbook, we think there’s value in offering these alternative opportunities to have a defined punt on something fun, fast and focused,” William Hill’s director of innovation and customer experience Jamie Hart said.
“Our WHLabs tech hub allows us to launch these products on a small scale and gather real world feedback. There will be plenty more to follow,” he added.
WHLabs has had a busy year so far, rolling out a beta version of its ambitious virtual reality horse racing app Get In The Race in May and last week announcing the finalists of its tech start-up accelerator programme.
