Metric Gaming closes funding round
Metric Gaming has completed an undisclosed funding round led by Alternative Trading Partners.
The Las Vegas-based sportsbook platform developer has secured funding from industry insiders and existing shareholders, and will use the cash to complete its SuperLive mobile wagering product.
“While the industry has been notoriously slow to keep pace with new technology, we are now in the midst of a paradigm shift,” Metric Gaming founder Martin de Knijff, said.
“Today bettors can make truly instant gratification wagers on their mobile devices and Metric has developed a powerful solution to meet this growing demand.
Metric’s current customers include Coral, ONEWorks, Sporting Solutions, BoyleSports, Redbet, and Hattrick.
Microgaming launches raft of new games
Supplier giant Microgaming has welcomed in the New Year by launching a raft of new desktop and mobile games.
The new titles include Lucky Twins, Peek-a-boo, Untamed Giant Panda, and Multi-player Mermaid Millions and went live to Microgaming customers earlier this week.
Microgaming head of product channels Neill Whyte said 2015 was a busy year for the supplier’s casino games team, launching 40 new games to market including 30 on mobile.
“As we enter 2016, this January we are bringing diversity to our portfolio with an Asian-inspired game and a spooky classic,” he added.
Optima strikes Africa sportsbook deal
Optima has struck a deal with Nairabet to supply the Nigerian operator with its online sportsbook and egaming platform.
Under the deal, Nairabet will use Optima’s platform to launch a web, mobile and retail sports betting products to players in the country.
Nairabet chief exec Akin Alabi said Optima’s product comes with an “excellent reputation” in terms of performance and scalability.
“This is a strategic move for us and Optima has demonstrated the commitment, experience and knowledge of the industry necessary for us to move forward with the project,” he added.
Monmouth Park launches fantasy sports site
New Jersey racecourse Monmouth Park has launched its own real-money fantasy sports site offering daily, weekly and season long contests.
The site, mpscoreattheshore.com, is powered by Star Fantasy Leagues with game statistics provided by STATS.
“This has been many months in the making,” said Bill Knauf, vice president of business operations for the racetrack.
“We are pleased to partner with Star Fantasy Leagues as we continue our goal of an increased gaming and entertainment presence in New Jersey,” he added.
888 makes B2B push with Casino Flex
888 is making a renewed push into the B2B casino space after rebranding its Dragonfish casino services following success with a number of recent customer sign-ups.
According to the firm, the newly named Casino Flex offers operators a flexible casino solution with customers having the option of either integrating a casino into an existing site or launching a standalone brand.
Speaking to eGaming Review, 888 senior vice-president and head of business development Yaniv Sherman said the firm’s experience with new partners such as Foxy Casino and Moongames gave it the confidence to repackage the product.
PokerStars to “experiment” with Apple TV launch
PokerStars has become one of the first egaming operators to launch a dedicated app for the Apple TV as the poker giant looks to “experiment” with the new platform.
The operator said its Apple TV app is still in the early stages of development, but is now available to download from the Apple App Store.
The app allows players to watch 24-hour poker broadcasts from PokerStars’ tournaments around the world.
And while not ruling out launching RMG or social gaming apps for Apple TV in the future, PokerStars spokesman Eric Hollreiser told eGR that scenario was “a bit premature” at this stage.
