Yahoo Daily Fantasy Sports went live to players yesterday and is available on desktop and mobile, and on both Android and iOS devices.
The firm said the launch of daily and weekly contests would take its fantasy sports offering to âthe next levelâ by giving fans âwhat they have always wantedâ.
âFor more than 16 years, we’ve built the best fantasy experience for our fans,â Simon Khalaf, Yahoo SVP of product and engineering, said.
âOur users spend nearly 30 billion minutes a year playing fantasy sports on Yahoo, and today we’re thrilled to introduce a daily fantasy experience designed for the modern fan.
âThe growing popularity of daily fantasy games is a fantastic opportunity for us to bolster our leadership by providing our millions of existing fantasy users as well new fans out there with a unique take on this game genre,â he added.
Yahoo is one of the largest season-long fantasy sports operators, and its entry into the daily sector could unsettle FanDuel and DraftKings, who between them hold around 90% of the market.
