Kindred Group to host its Sustainable Gambling Conference in Amsterdam
As part of Safer Gambling Week, the Swedish operator will gather experts from inside and outside of the industry for practical discussions
Kindred Group will hold the seventh edition of its Sustainable Gambling Conference in a hybrid format at the famous Johan Cruijff ArenA in Amsterdam.
The conference has been scheduled for 19 October to coincide with the UK and the Europe’s Safer Gambling Week.
This year’s theme is Safer Gambling: An Honest Conversation, and Kindred’s sustainability manager, Anna Jein, spoke exclusively to EGR about this year’s conference.
Jein said: “The overarching topic this year is safer gambling and honest conversation. So we can be honest about the challenges we have and hear the views and insights and experiences and try and find solutions to these issues.”
“We have a number of people from inside and outside the industry who have a stake in building a more sustainable gambling industry.”
One of the hottest topics around the European igaming industry at the moment is the relationship gambling has with the sponsorship of sports teams.
Spain’s LaLiga no longer allows front-of-shirt sponsorship, England’s Premier League is set to bring a voluntary ban, and in the Netherlands is phasing out gambling sponsorship by 2025.
This topic will be discussed by multiple guests at the conference, Jein confirmed.
She said: “We will have the Svensk Elit Football on stage this year talking about why it is beneficial for the two [sport and gambling operator] to collaborate and what the benefits can be made.”
Jein went on to discuss the other topics that will be discussed at the conference. She commented: “We will have some sensitive topics that have been on the agenda for years like single customer view and what challenges and solutions are there. In addition, we will discuss what we can contribute as operators and what are the regulator’s view as well.”
The conference at the Johan Cruijff ArenA will come a few months after Kindred re-launched its Unibet brand in the Netherlands and partnered with AFC Ajax, who play at the Johan Cruijff ArenA.
That partnership aims to prevent betting-related match-fixing, raise mental health awareness and promote responsible gambling.
