Sweden’s national self-exclusion register to get a revamp
New look website will provide clearer information and guidance for problem gamblers
The Swedish Gaming Inspectorate’s national self-exclusion register, Spelpaus.se, has signed a new agreement with technology company Precio Fishbone to make its website more user friendly and improve its functionality. A special focus of the new website will be to provide clearer information and guidance on how players can get help with problem gambling. The register, launched in January 2019 as part of the re-regulation of the country’s gaming industry, is an important part of the Swedish Gaming Inspectorate’s work and vision for responsible gaming. The number of people who have chosen to suspend themselves from all licensed gaming companies via Spelpaus.se is over 70,000 and currently players can suspend from all licensed betting activity for one month, three months, six months or until further notice. The latter allows players to log in and choose to end the suspension after no less than 12 months. The updates and changes to the website will not affect suspended players and the process to suspend betting with licensed gaming companies remains unchanged. A new function that will be introduced, having been requested, is the facility to extend an ongoing suspension. Current licensees in the Swedish market will continue to check potential new customers against Spelpaus.se and no major adjustments are required by those companies who are connected to the register. More information will be available later in the spring with the new website due to be launched at the end of May 2022.
