PokerStars sportsbook director Stephen Fisk departs
Fisk leaves the operator just months after overseeing the launch of Amaya's BetStars brand
PokerStars’ sportsbook director Stephen Fisk has left the firm just months after the operator launched its BetStars brand in the UK, eGaming Review can reveal.
Fisk was appointed managing director of sportsbook at the Rational Group back in November 2013, and was tasked with overseeing the set up and execution of its platform and product.
Amaya spokesman Eric Hollresier confirmed to EGR that Fisk had left the Rational Group, but declined to provide any more details on his exit.
Hollreiser also said Amaya was not planning to name Fisk’s replacement at this time.
Fisk joined the Rational Group – then parent company of PokerStars – in 2007 as director of security, before moving on to director of payments and security, then director of operations in 2009.
Fisk is the latest in a number of senior departures at PokerStars after interim CEO Michael Hazel was replaced by former COO Rafi Ashkenazi.
Last year it was revealed Amaya was forced to sack four senior executives in order to obtain a licence in New Jersey, with the company told to release the employees by 30 January 2016.
The news comes after Amaya CEO David Baazov yesterday tabled a CAD$2.8bn offer to acquire the gaming giant in its entirety.
