Danish Gambling Authority targets “simplified” licence renewal process
Regulator warns licensees over potential delays in renewal process
The Danish Gambling Authority (DGA) has launched a simplified application and licence renewal process for online casino and sports betting licences in Denmark.
As part of this streamlining process, the DGA has debuted a new two-part application form, which can be used for both existing and new online gambling operators.
Part one of the form deals with the disclosure of beneficial owners in the business, while part two sets out required financial documentation and submission methods.
However, all application data is required to be submitted at the same time and electronic signatures will be accepted.
In respect of financial records, the regulator has said all information provided must not be older than six months old, with any documentation provided prior to that date automatically rejected by the DGA.
The DGA has highlighted the need for a new streamlined application process as a large number of existing Danish-licensed operators licences are set to expire at the end of 2021.
It has called on affected licensees to get their renewal applications in early to avoid any potential delays in processing which could jeopardise their Danish operations.
In order to be issued with a licence by 31 December, the DGA has said licensees must submit their renewal paperwork by no later than 1 September.
“The DGA recommends that holders of licences which expire in 2021 have their application for renewal planned, so that all material can be submitted in good time,” the DGA said in a statement.
“The DGA will strive to ensure that applications are completed without the applicant risking an interruption in their offer of games,” the DGA added.
