Betway joins Netherlands Online Gambling Association
Sports betting operator joins trade body ahead of regulated market launch in 2021
Betway has signed up to become a member of the Netherlands Online Gambling Association (NOGA).
As part of its membership, the sports betting operator will add its expertise to existing NOGA efforts to create an open licensing and regulatory system in the Netherlands.
The firm joins other NOGA members including bet365, Flutter, Entain, Kindred and Betsson.
“We are delighted to welcome Betway into our midst,” NOGA managing director Peter-Paul de Goeij said.
“We also see it as a clear sign that more and more operators see the advantage of joining NOGA in the run-up to the opening of the online market in the Netherlands.
“With Betway now on board we will continue to push for a safe, responsible and attractive online gambling offering in the Netherlands,” he added.
Betway is expected to apply for a Dutch online gambling and sports betting licence in 2021 and should be one of the first to receive a licence, having not been sanctioned by the Dutch Gambling Authority (KSA) for targeting Dutch players in the pre-licence period.
”We’re delighted to join NOGA and look forward to contributing our experience with our peers in NOGA,” Betway director of compliance and regulatory affairs Roger Parkes said.
“Betway is committed to providing a safe and entertaining leisure activity for our customers and feel sure that NOGA will provide the support for the industry and reassurance to the regulator that will lead to a successful regulated Dutch market,” Parkes added.
In October, NOGA signed an information sharing-led Memorandum of Understanding with its counterpart in Sweden, the Swedish Trade Association for Online Gambling (BOS).
