GambleAware launches digital safer gambling hub
‘Bet Regret’ messaging and education to feature in new RG-led website in partnership with Football Supporters’ Association
GambleAware has launched a ‘safer gambling hub’ website in collaboration with the Football Supporters’ Association (FSA) to provide football clubs with free-to-use safer-gambling resources.
The website includes marketing material linked to GambleAware’s ‘Bet Regret’ advertising campaign, including posters, stadium advertising, digital media and logos for use on club websites.
All content featured on the site is free to download and the domain also includes guidance on safer football betting practices, including taking breaks, setting time limits and personal deposit limits.
The hub aims to raise awareness among football fans of the risks of impulsive betting and to help them recognise behaviours that can lead from low-risk betting to a more serious gambling issue.

Marc Etches, chief executive of BeGambleAware, said it was important for sports bettors to be aware of the risks involved when betting on their local football team.
“As highlighted in the FSA Survey conducted at the end of last year, only 10% of supporters felt that their club was doing enough to encourage safer gambling,” said Etches.
“We hope that football clubs and associated groups find the tools useful in helping to create a safer gambling environment for everyone,” he added.
Football’s relationship with betting has been under intense spotlight in recent weeks following an investigation into the streaming of live FA cup games by online gambling operators.
FSA deputy CEO David Rose said that many supporters’ groups had real concerns about harmful betting and impulsive gambling behaviours among football fans.
“We’ll be helping fans across the country lobby their clubs on the issue and get the safer gambling message out there,” said Rose.
“Football clubs have a unique position in their communities so this is something they need to take seriously,” he added.
