Oddschecker Insights: Paddy Power wins Euro semi-finals price war
Irish operator was best price for Portugal/France double while Coral continues to attract most new customers
Paddy Power was best price across the industry for the winning double in the Euro semi-finals during the majority of the build-up to the matches, according to Oddschecker data provided exclusively to EGR.
A Portugal/France double could be had at 6.3 with Paddys just before kick-off despite the bookmaker being better known for cheeky advertising rather than its value proposition.
“Paddy Power was the pick of the bunch, consistently offering customers the most value right up to kick-off,” said Oddschecker’s head of commercial, Guy Harding.
He added: “A shout out must go to William Hill, which from a correct score perspective, was best price throughout the run up to KO. Prescient punters who foresaw 2-0 victories for both Portugal and France could have bagged themselves odds as generous as 142/1.”
Coral continued to do well in the new customer stakes, attracting 44% of new customer clickshare with its enhanced offers of 10/1 on Wales to qualify and 10/1 France to beat Germany.

“Coral once again stole the show,” said Harding. “Their offers meant they recorded nearly half of all new customer clicks on Wednesday and Thursday.”
In terms of all customer clicks, the market was considerably more competitive with Betfred leading the way at 14%, thanks to its ‘bet ?10 pre-match and get ?5 in play’ offering.
“The allure of an in-play free bet continues to be lucrative as illustrated by Betfred’s consistently strong performance in this department,” said Harding.
