LeoVegas hires new head of sportsbook from Betsson
Andreas Bardun joins the operator following recent LeoVegas Sport launch
Stockholm-listed operator LeoVegas has appointed Betsson’s Andreas Bardun to lead its new sportsbook product, eGaming Review has learned.
Bardun had previously held numerous roles within the Betsson Group since 2012 and was most recently head of sportsbook of the group’s NordicBet brand.
“There was a lot of competition for the role, but in the end we felt Andreas was the person who could take mobile sportsbook to the next level,” Johan Styren, CEO of LeoVegas, told EGR.
Meanwhile, Betsson’s Ed Rycroft has also followed Bardun in joining LeoVegas to become the firm’s new sportsbook manager.
Rycroft was sportsbook manager for Betsson’s Dhoze and Betsafe brands upon joining the company in April 2015, and was also previously sportsbook executive at British bookie Betfred.
The appointments follow LeoVegas’ first foray into sports betting, launching a Kambi-powered sportsbook ahead of Euro 2016.
LeoVegas Sport was rolled out via the firm’s mobile app and website across the UK, Sweden, Finland, Norway, the Netherlands and Canada.
