KSA warns multiple operators over planned advertising on minor-friendly platforms
Gambling regulator investigates licensed firms and hands out warnings over plans to market across YouTube and family TV programmes
The Dutch Gambling Authority (KSA) has warned three operators over plans to advertise across child and teenager friendly platforms. The KSA found that based on policy documents, three unnamed providers were planning to market across the Donald Duck website, the YouTube channel Teen Tok and around TV family programmes such as Marble Mania, as well as other platforms. Following the warning, these operators must immediately adjust its advertising policy in accordance with KSA guidance. Additionally, seven other operators were found to have committed less serious violations. Those operators must also take steps to adhere to the KSA’s guidance. The investigation took place over recent months into all licensed operators in the market with a key focus on the protection of vulnerable persons, such as minors and young adults The KSA said: “The protection of vulnerable groups such as minors, young adults or problem players is a priority for the KSA. “They are extra sensitive to gambling addiction and are therefore not allowed to see gambling advertising. The law sets strict requirements for this. “Even if advertising is outsourced, the licence holder remains responsible. The agreements must be laid down in writing in advance,” the regulatory body concluded.
